FACE OKA Puts a Smile on Chainsaw Man with This Series of Limited-Edition Figures
The previously featured artist FACE OKA, has gone from strength to strength since we last visited his humorously anarchic world.
Born in 1984, Face is already a well-established artist having worked and collaborated with the likes of BEAMS, Goodhood, and adidas, but it’s his most recent collaboration that has got his disturbingly charming smiley faces back on our radar. Joining forces with Fwenclub and the smash hit anime and manga series, Chainsaw Man, Face introduces a selection of 3 limited-edition figures.
Having stated Chainsaw Man was his favourite series, there was already natural synergy with the artist and muse for this highly celebrated release. Inspired by the main characters of the series, Makima, Denji, and Pochita, the 3 figures are clear mimics of their anime and manga counterparts that have been twisted and manipulated by the realms of Face’s creativity.
Chainsaw Man has seen an incredible response since Its emergence in 2018. By the time the anime had been released in 2022, Chainsaw Man was one of the best-selling manga and quickly became one of the most watched and anticipated anime of the year. Whilst the bloody action that the series is known for can’t be seen in this collaboration, the humorous side of the franchise most certainly can.
The artists’ signature uncomfortable and unsettling faces exude charm and character and can be seen through each figure. From Denji and his upside-down smiley face making it confusing to understand whether he may be happy or sad, to the adorable Pochita having his iconic Chainsaw nose branded with the Face Oka smile. The 3 figures are a quirky call back to Face’s love for the series and are an exciting release for both the artist and fans alike.
