MY EYES: A Surreal Perspective on Everyday Life by Tsubasa Saitoh

MY EYES: A Surreal Perspective on Everyday Life by Tsubasa Saitoh

DIESEL ART GALLERY is presenting the up-and-coming photographer Tsubasa Saitoh’s first exhibition, “MY EYES”, from April 29th to August 4th of this year.

During this period, Saitoh is showcasing some of his most fascinating works and never-seen-before photographs as well.

Born in Hokkaido, Saitoh has been established in Tokyo in 2009 and has been working as a freelancer, mainly revolving around the commercial aspects of fashion and fashion-related magazines. The artist only started his art in 2018, and he quickly gained some attention for his unique photographs.

At first glance, his work looks like a CGI representation of a detached, futuristic world. However, they are actually meticulously composed pictures, with a cold yet enchanting sheen.

In his artist statement provided by DIESEL, Saitoh confirms that his aim is to bridge the gap between what is art and what isn’t, but by doing this, he simultaneously erases the line between perceived reality and fiction: his photographs are eerie and vivid reminders that perspective heavily influences our most mundane experiences. By photographing things that aren’t art, Saitoh gives them a new meaning and a new sense of beauty as well.

At the exhibition, the unmatched Tsubasa Saitoh will be selling his exclusive zine and other merchandise like postcards. “MY EYES” is something you should keep your eyes on, as Saitoh’s artistic mission is only at its start.
