Super Godzilla SNES [1993]: Pixelated Fire Breaths and Kaiju Goodness

A quintessential franchise in the grand scheme of Japanese cinema history, further expanding its presence both in and out of the cinemas, Godzilla has transcended time to position itself as Japan's defacto mascot character.

A feat to applaud, considering the fact that the nuclear lizard has been around since 1954, lest we forget, cinemas and home videos alone did not build Godzilla's legacy.

From amusement park rides to collaborating with a slew of different franchises, Japan's favorite movie monster has made an appearance on anything you can imagine and more. Of course, that includes an extensive library of video games as well.

Pixelated fire breaths, a mind-controlling super fortress, and plenty of giant clashes, Super Godzilla [1993] is a video game developed for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in Japan, helmed by Advance Communication Company. Composed of two phases, the video game allows players to take control of Godzilla, traveling to each location, and during combat against other kaiju.

From King Ghidorah to Mecha-Godzilla, and even Biollante, Super Godzilla allows players to fight against some of the franchise favorites, albeit in 90s clunky video game fashion.

While not necessarily a critical hit, it is one of the few times we get to see a pixelated rendition of the nuclear lizard combating, destroying, and annihilating.
