The Toys Taking "Hobby" to a Whole New Level - Ashley Wood & threeA

In 2008, a new toy company was born, that would introduce a whole new level of toys and hobby to the world; threeA.

Founded by comic book artist & illustrator Ashley Wright and Kim Fung Wong of threezero, threeA, a toy company that would go on to create a cult following, and introduce new and unique ways of presenting toys themselves.

Ashley Wood is an Australian born 1971, known for his works like Popbot, Automatic Kafka, as well as working with countless other projects with outside companies. He has worked with Marvel, DC Comics, and even produced one of the world's first digital comics for the PlayStation Portable, Metal Gear Solid: Digital Graphic Novel, alongside Hideo Kojima & Konami.

threeA was a Hong Kong based production house that created toys, figures, posters, and more, based on character's from Ashley Wood's universe. threeA utilized many unique tactics when presenting & selling their items, like surprise sales, ultra-long preorders, or preorders announced for certain toys without any photo whatsoever, just a very rough sketch by the man himself. When asked, Ashley Wood answered "threeA isn't a normal company driven by normal things".

A few years later, threeA introduced the 3AA Membership club, where a membership pack would be given out to members featuring special toys, figures, and other goods.

The smallest details, even the attention to detail on the packaging is on another level. In 2008 when threeA started, premium toys didn't have nearly as many fans or a market like today. threeA was one of the pioneers, especially in the west, when it came to toys not only targeted for children. Their first release, the Bertie MK1, priced at $300 sold out very fast, while many stores thought it would be too expensive to sell.

Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end, and threeA in 2019 transferred their license to threezero. However in 2020, UNDERVERSE, Ashley Wood's new creative team was born & marked the start of a new journey.
