“… and then I started taking pictures naturally, because I wanted to create my own images, and I wanted to work through all these processes.”

Having grown up in a generation deeply influenced by the internet, technology and its advancement has become a fundamental source of inspiration for Cho, from which he extrapolates ideas for his models, sets and projects. Cho uses his work to expand the concept of beauty through a hybrid of historical and contemporary references, which aim to centre Korean culture in dynamic and experimental new ways.

In Cho’s carefully constructed image, the colours, lighting and props form an exiting composition that transform the models into intricate characters. Though each photograph is distinct, on closer inquiry there are a number of recurring motifs among Cho’s imaginative creativity, flowers, particularly orchids, being one of them.
